Economic Development consists of the small business assistance and revolving loan fund (RLF), business retention & expansion (BR&E) programs, business attraction programs and special projects assigned by the Board. Staff supports the Economic Opportunity Committee, which advises the Board of Supervisors on appropriate economic development policies, programs and activities.
The Housing Division consists of the County Inclusionary Housing program, Affordable Housing program the, Post-Redevelopment Successor Agency projects, and the Community Development Block Grant programs.
The Workforce Development Board (WDB):
The WDB oversees Adult, Dislocated Worker, Youth, and Rapid Response Programs that operate under the America's Job Center of California (AJCC), formerly known as the One-Stop Career Center and the Office for Employment Training, as well as adult program providers Shoreline Workforce Development Services and youth program providers such as, Turning Point of Central California.
The Economic Development Department was authorized by the Board of Supervisors in 2010, combining the Office of Economic Development with the Workforce Development Board and Housing. The Department is intended to implement an integrated economic development model as illustrated below.
